Weigh-and-pack vs premade pouch: which bag-side machine fits your product?
The film-vs-premade decision has two machine-shaped answers. One side doses your product by weight and packs it into the container you run; the other takes a pouch that already exists — a premade doypack with a spout — and only fills and caps it. The catalog carries one machine on each side: the ZS-GWF24 multi-head weigher line and the ZS-ASPM4 spout-pouch monoblock. The table below lines them up with the figures each model's own parameter table states. Where a figure is not on record, the cell says so instead of guessing.
The figures describe the specific models listed on this site, under the source's stated conditions. They are reference points for shortlisting — the final configuration must be confirmed against your actual product, container and production line before purchase.
Container problem → variant → stated figures
The variant wording follows each model's own catalog description. The first decision is what your product meets on the line — a container it is dosed into by weight, or a premade pouch that only needs filling and capping — and only then does throughput, fill range and footprint narrow the field.
| Variant | Container problem it solves (per catalog description) | Container range (as stated) | Speed (as stated) | Fill range (as stated) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| ZS-GWF24 Multi-head weigher packing line (12/24 heads, dual lane) | Dosing by weight into rigid and semi-rigid containers — the catalog lists plastic clamshells, plastic blister trays and paper boxes, in food-grade SUS304 with IP65 protection. | Plastic clamshell, plastic blister tray, paper boxes | Single lane 15-25 bags/min (12 heads); double lane 30-50 bags/min (24 heads) | 10-2000 g/bag, 0.5-2.0 g accuracy |
| ZS-ASPM4 Four-head spout-pouch doypack fill-and-cap monoblock | Filling and capping ready-made spout pouches (doypacks) — the machine feeds, air-opens, fills and caps the premade pouch continuously, with 316 stainless-steel magnetic pumps doing the dosing. | Spout pouches (spout size: customizable) | 1600-1800 BPH | 10-300 ml (customizable), stated 1 percent accuracy |
How to read this table: the two machines are not speed-comparable like-for-like. The GWF24's figure is bags per minute across one or two lanes (15-25 or 30-50 bags/min, depending on whether 12 or 24 weighing heads run); the ASPM4's is pouches per hour (1600-1800 BPH) across four heads. Roughly converted the two overlap, so the decision driver is the container, not the number. Note also the container mismatch: the GWF24's catalog lists clamshells, blister trays and paper boxes, not film-made bags — if your plan is a classic film-bagged VFFS line, start from the VFFS family instead and use the GWF24 line for weighed clamshell and tray work.
| Model | Power / supply (as stated) | Footprint (as stated) | List price (as stated) | Dosing hardware (per catalog) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| ZS-GWF24 | 220 V / 380 V, 50/60 Hz three-phase; 5.0-8.5 kW line | Confirm via inquiry | $152,999 | food-grade SUS304 stainless steel |
| ZS-ASPM4 | 110/220 V, 50-60 Hz; 1200 W; air 0.4-0.6 MPa | 2480 x 1760 x 1730 mm | $14,200 | Stainless steel 316 magnetic pump |
The dosing hardware row is where the two philosophies diverge most: the GWF24 doses by weighing heads (10-2000 g/bag at a stated 0.5-2.0 g accuracy), the ASPM4 doses by 316 stainless-steel magnetic pumps (10-300 ml at a stated 1 percent accuracy, 6 L/min per pump, head count customizable). Weight-based dosing tolerates product variation; pump dosing assumes a flowable liquid and a consistent pouch.
Where the trade-offs are written up
The reasoning behind the film-vs-premade choice lives in the knowledge base:
- VFFS vs premade pouch machines: what the evidence settles — speed, changeover, shelf appeal and TCO, and what only a trial can settle.
- Specifying a VFFS machine — the film, product and speed requirements to put in writing before you RFQ.
- Rotary vs horizontal premade pouch machines — where the premade side splits again, and what the evidence can settle before you issue an RFQ.
Shortlisting to configuration
Product density, target fill weight, pouch or container samples and the upstream equipment the machine must synchronize with all move the answer. Send those with the inquiry and the quotation comes back against your actual configuration — or return to the comparison hub to narrow by task and capacity first.
